Water Doctors was founded in 1982 with a clear purpose: help people understand their water so they could make informed decisions for their homes and businesses.
From the beginning, the company saw a problem in the water treatment industry — homeowners were often sold systems they didn’t need, given confusing explanations, or pressured into decisions that didn’t feel right.
Water Doctors was built to be different. The focus was never on selling equipment. The focus was on testing water properly, explaining results clearly, and recommending solutions only when they truly made sense.
That belief — education first, pressure never — still guides everything we do today.
Water Doctors is led by husband-and-wife team John and Amber Atlee.
John comes from a hands-on plumbing and water background. He believes the best solutions are the ones that last, protect the home, and improve daily life — not just today, but for years to come.
Amber brings a people-first mindset to the business. She believes trust is built through clear communication, follow-through, and doing what you say you’re going to do.
Together, they share one guiding principle:
If it’s not right for the homeowner or business owner, we won’t recommend it — even if that means walking away.
Our mission is simple, but it guides every decision we make — from how we test water, to what we recommend, to when we’re willing to walk away.
We believe doing things in the right order matters.
Customer First
We believe in doing what’s right for the customer — always.
That means honest water testing, clear explanations in plain language, and recommendations based on need, not pressure or quotas.
Sometimes that means recommending a system. Sometimes it means saying, “You’re actually okay the way you are.”
Company Second
We believe a strong company is built on integrity, education, and consistency.
By doing right by customers, we build long-term relationships instead of one-time transactions. That’s how a family-owned company lasts — and how trust is earned over time.
Self Third
We believe in accountability, pride in workmanship, and continuous learning.
Our team is expected to show up prepared, respectful, and honest — not just skilled with tools, but able to listen, explain, and educate. We hold ourselves to that standard every day.
Behind every water test, installation, and service visit is a team of local professionals who care deeply about doing things the right way.
Our team lives and works in the communities we serve. We believe in treating homes with respect, taking the time to answer questions, and making sure customers understand their water — not just the solution.
We’re proud of the people who represent Water Doctors every day, and we hold ourselves accountable to the same values we were built on: honesty, education, and follow-through.
Water is personal. It affects your health, your plumbing, your appliances, and your peace of mind.
That’s why we take the time to explain what’s actually in your water, how it affects your home or business, and what options truly make sense — and which ones don’t.
We believe an educated homeowner or business owner makes better decisions. Even if that decision isn’t with us.
Being a local, family-owned business means more than serving customers — it means showing up for the community we’re part of.
We are proud to support organizations like Fisher House, which provides comfort and care for military members, veterans, and their families during difficult times.
Giving back isn’t something we do for recognition. It’s part of our responsibility as a local company and a reflection of the values we were built on.
People choose Water Doctors because they want honest answers, not pressure.
They want to understand their water, make informed decisions, and work with a company that puts doing what’s right ahead of making a sale.
That’s how we’ve built long-term relationships with homeowners and business owners across Southeast Wisconsin.
Whether you’re concerned about your water, curious about your options, or just want clear answers, we’re here to help.
If it turns into a solution, great. If it doesn’t, that’s okay too.
Because at the end of the day, doing what’s right matters more than making a sale.
