Referred to as Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) this is a measurement of all the other materials that are dissolved in the water that neither a softener nor iron filtration device will touch. Also measured in Parts per Million (PPM), a typical TDS level in our area ranges from around 180 to well over 1,000.  A clean water source is less than 50 PPM and really clean Reverse-Osmosis (R/O) water will be below 10 PPM.
