What is hard water? E-mail

According to the U.S. Geologic Survey, 85 percent of the United States has to cope with hard water, which is water with excessive levels of calcium and magnesium, or more simply put: dissolved rock. While hard water is not considered to be unhealthy for people to drink, it can be very detrimental for household plumbing, cleaning processes, and water-using appliances. The phrase “Hard Water” came about because it was found to be very hard to clean with. The Water Quality Association (www.wqa.org) rates water on a scale from 1 – 10.5 grains of rock per gallon of water. The “soft” water that residents enjoy along Lake Michigan is in fact very hard coming in at the top of the WQA scale at somewhere between 8 & 10 grains of hardness. While this is certainly softer than the water in Waukesha or Brookfield that registers a whopping 20+ grains per gallon, it is by no means soft, or less than 1 grain per gallon.

What is a “non-electric” softener? E-mail
A non-electric softener is a very unique, patented and highly efficient water softening system first developed by Kinetico (www.kinetico.com) in the early ‘70’s in Newbury, OH. What made it so revolutionary is that it required no electricity to operate the metering system required by all other systems, up until that time. The name Kinetico comes from the fact that all of our systems are entirely powered by the “kinetic” energy of the water flowing through them – now that’s green! In addition to using no electricity Kinetico’s 2040 model represents the lowest salt and water usage as well. At a mere 16 ounces of salt used per regeneration and the fact that it sips on just 7 gallons of water makes Kinetico the high efficiency king of the industry – no other systems even come close!

The "other" no-salt systems E-mail
Misinformation: "We have a no-salt, EASY-WATER system"

Truth: These systems have not been certified in the state of Wisconsin nor have we ever seen a softening system that functions without salt. Buyer beware; if you buy one of these units who will service it when it fails?

Non-Electric? Who Cares? E-mail
Misinformation: "Non-electric? Who cares! The savings of having a softener that doesn't use electricity may only be $5 - $7 a year...big deal!"

The Truth: They're absolutely right about the savings, big deal! The real point is NOT about savings however, it IS about convenience. The name Kinetico comes from the term "kinetic" energy.

24x7 E-mail
Misinformation: "Do you really need soft water 24/7, I mean, how much soft water will you use at midnight?"

The Truth: The simple truth is that if you're going to spend your hard earned money for ANY softener wouldn't you want it to provide soft water ALL of the time and not just MOST of the time?
